I read these 2 articles last night:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/global-opinions/the-west-has-lost-confidence-in-its-values-syria-is-paying-the-price/2019/09/06/b8b73dee-d0ac-11e9-b29b-a528dc82154a_story.html
https://www.newsweek.com/russia-china-iran-fight-sanctions-1458096
Neither of them mentions that the Western power structure morally and intellectually disintegrated from 2010 to the Me Too/gymnastics scandal in 2017, nor does either of the articles mention the media's onslaught during those 7 years not only on Western value but on human values. The conglomerate attacked civilization.
The tone of the articles is similar to most of the other American media which I have read about Syria; listless and vaguely accusatory, as if the encroachment of murderous totalitarianism were inevitable instead of the result of negligence while most of the Western media spent time and money promoting sexual abuse every day.
The exceptions to the apathy of the Western media, particularly in response to the Syrian crisis, have been from journalists who are knowledgable and dedicated, who know how to do research and interviews, who understand the implications of democracies abandoning the populations of other countries for financial or political expedience, and who are good writers.
