I read that article, but I didn't need to read it to know what the Russian government's plan is.
Is there someone who does? Are there a lot of people who need to read it? How is it not obvious?

It was my amateur impression that the United States could have negotiated with Russia about Syria a few years ago, but the American media was so obsessed with demonizing President Trump that the possibility then was destroyed. Now the U.S. is on the verge of military confrontation with Russia and Mr. Assad feels certain that his dictatorship will continue.
