The Democratic Party and the M&E industry have been in near-total symbiosis around the issue of internalized, systemic misogyny since long before 2010.
Why did it take someone whose crimes were of the magnitude of Mr. Weinstein's for the M&E industry to scratch the surface of accountability?
I'm not saying that symbiosis hasn't suited most of the Republican Party since long before 2010. It has left the Republican Party with nobody to argue with about anything pertaining to women's issues, except reproductive rights, for decades.
