Despite the injuries inflicted on me 24 hours per day, I have a place to live. I have enough food. I have access to medical care. Although I have no privacy, I have a toilet and running water. Unlike when I was homeless, I'm not sleep-deprived. I'm not living in a filthy dungeon, corporeally raped and beaten.
One of the reasons that I have all of the above is that I'm not Syrian. I know that I could say that about a lot of nationalities. However, as far as my ability to advocate for causes is concerned, I'm one person. I'm not Amnesty International.
