I have something else to say.

The police are out there every day.  24 hours at a time, 365 days per year, someone answers if you call them.

I could not do that job.  I would not want to try.

I am not denying Black America's experience.  I know it's true.

I don't think there's going to be a quick fix, not even a multi-step quick fix.  The most serious problems never have them.

One thing I would do, if I were a media editor, would be to make police journalism a routine, front page issue every week, from now on.  If I managed journalism education programs, I would make police journalism a major.  I think there are similar things to say about criminal justice education programs and what ought to be included and also reinforced throughout people's careers.

If I were part of government, I would also make discussions of policing mandatory and weekly.

These issues can't be put away; that, at least, is clear.  They have to be kept in the public conversation and political thought process.
