I don't think that the American people need more yelling right now. I think they need to feel safe in their homes and in public places.
I don't know, President Trump. I think this might be a time when the right thing to do is to put aside everything other than being there to listen to the people who are terrified and grieving. Shut out what critics say about you during this trip; don't even read it if it disrupts your ability to talk and listen to the survivors and the families and friends of those killed and wounded. You can even make decisions and promises later; you're walking into the aftermath of the worst thing that has ever happened to everyone whom you're going to be around.
I'll mention now that I don't think that the death penalty is going to deter this type of murder. I think that people who do this think that they're going to die at the scene of the crime, or that they're going to spend the rest of their lives in jail. What they want is to kill or hurt as many people as they can before they are stopped. They have already given up on their lives.
Don't take it personally if there are people who won't talk to you or won't meet with you. It doesn't matter. What they're going through is what matters.
