Pine Street Inn staff laughing

Returning to the Pine Street Inn women's shelter, not expecting to have much of a conversation but at least wanting to talk about my adventures in trying to obtain emotional support for having witnessed an attempted rape, tonight I tried to talk about it with no fewer than 3 staffpeople at the Pine Street Inn women's shelter.

One of them openly laughed while I was trying to talk.  Another ignored me and avoided eye contact.  A third said "Uh huh" over her shoulder while she walked away.

This is from the first page of the Pine Street Inn's website:

"We don't have the funding" is the automatic answer from every social service about its failures.  Empathy doesn't cost money.
