The Pine Street Inn's failure to address issues which contribute to chronic homelessness.

There are other employees of the Pine Street Inn women's shelter who have been responsive listeners to my talking about having witnessed a domestic violence/attempted rape incident on the front steps of the Boston Public Library in Copley Square a few days ago.  However, that is the result of who they are as people and not the result of consistent training by the Pine Street Inn about those issues.

The Pine Street Inn, as an organization, does nothing to provide support or education for homeless people about these issues. There is no reason that the shelters can't have groups and classes every day about them.

I do not want to hear the sentence "That's not what we do here" again.  It ought to be what they do, but the system, although it will never say it in so many words, prefers to blame homeless people and to think of them as being stupid and lazy.
