You're going to end up without a voice, you know. The trade-off that I have for having rejected opportunities for direct power is that, without an official capacity, I have the full latitude of free speech. I can make compromises and I can withdraw them, because I'm not compromising an office or creating inconsistency for my record in an office.
You should think about that. You can't add integrity to anything if you are compromising yourself. You do have a choice. The days can add up to years, and then you might realize that you don't know what to say or are too afraid or ashamed to say it, or have forgotten how to tell the truth.
