Reporters

Expect to be attacked for writing and talking about sexual misconduct if you're not trying to discredit the victim, unless the perpetrator is female, and even then if the perpetrator is powerful and her victim is also female.

Expect to be laughed at.  Expect to be threatened.  Expect everything up to and past losing your job.

Expect to be sued.  Expect to end up in jail.

Expect to be the target of sexual harassment, sexual assault, stalking, attempted voyeurism and involuntary pornography.

Expect that anyone who has anything bad to say about you from any time in your life will be treated like a hero.  Expect that every rumor about you will be immediately accepted as fact, circulated ad nauseum and subject to embellishments which will also be immediately accepted as fact.  Expect to be confronted by these rumors every day for the rest of your life, no matter how many hours you spend trying to dispel them, to give explanations or to take responsibility.  Expect to be surrounded by cruel, smirking faces when you are a centenarian on your deathbed.

Expect depression.  Expect rage.  Expect to feel occasionally incapacitated by the relentless onslaught of mob malice.

Expect no remorse.  Expect no apologies.

Expect corrupt, stupid people to profit at your expense.  Expect them to be admired while you are treated with derision.

Expect otherwise intelligent, reasonable people to degenerate into slobbering morons.

Expect to be called a liar.  Expect to be called a con artist.  Expect these things from people whom you know to be liars and con artists.

Expect continual attempts to isolate you socially and professionally.  Expect that you and everyone around you will be ridiculed for trying to trying to break out of that isolation.

Expect to be failed by every individual.  Expect to be failed by every institution.  Expect to be failed by every organization.

Expect that your friends and family will be endangered.

Expect to be murdered.

Expect people to dance and spit on your grave.

Start with those expectations every day, and every day that none or only a few of those things happen will be a good day.

This is the world we live in:
