Question

When a virus that typically only affects nonhuman animals is engineered to make humans sick, is the engineered version also more prone to mutations that make it transmissable from humans to other specie?

In other words, once an engineered virus has created a human pandemic, is it going to be passed back and forth from human beings to other specie indefinitely?

Food supply.  Clothing supply.  Pets.
