I support the age of consent being federally established at 18.

It's 16 in Vermont and Massachusetts.

The federal law establishes the age of 12 as the minimum age of consent, while the age at which there are no restrictions for consensual sexual activities is 18 (sex with someone 12-18 is not illegal per se, but can still be open to prosecution under certain circumstances).

I don't know if Wikipedia is a reliable source of information about the issue, but it's disturbing that the
first words answering the question at Google are "The federal law establishes the age of 12 as the minimum age of
consent."  That's the first thing that someone who is thinking about having sex with a 12-year-old will 
read, and it's the first thing that a 12-year-old who is being abused and who is also being told that what's
happening is not abuse will read.
