Gosh, why would Judge Kavanaugh's accuser think that she won't be treated fairly?

What gave her that idea?

“Keep the faith. Don’t get rattled by all of this. We’re going to plow right through it and do our job,” Mr. McConnell said. “In the very near future, Judge Kavanaugh will be on the United States Supreme Court.”

What could possibly have made her think that the decision has already been made and that she won't be subjected to hostile interrogation that has the goal, not of discerning the truth, but of discrediting her no matter what she says?

"With a spate of public opinion polls showing that fewer than 40 percent of Americans favor confirmation, allies of Judge Kavanaugh are trying to shore up support. The Judicial Crisis Network, a conservative advocacy group, is running a $1.5 million television advertising campaign featuring a woman who has been friends with Judge Kavanaugh for 35 years. And on Friday, dozens of women who know Judge Kavanaugh held a news conference at a downtown hotel here to praise him as a man of upstanding character."

Perhaps in an earlier era, Judge Kavanaugh could have ostentatiously dragged the knuckles of one hand on the floor, while brandishing a club in the other, without jeopardizing his career or his reputation.

That seems to be more or less what one of his mentors did, according to another article, from "The Intercept":

1985
Reagan nominates Kozinski to the 9th Circuit. After approving his nomination, the Judiciary Committee takes the unusual step of re-opening the hearing, after former Kozinski employees charge Kozinski with “sadistic” and “abusive” behavior. Nevertheless, the Senate confirms Kozinski to the 9th Circuit.

It's not surprising that neither he nor his supporters aren't all that worried about his being confirmed.

For a hearing to be opened again in the year 1985, Judge Kozinski's behavior must have been difficult for most people to ignore or fail to recall.
