California features prominently in that list, yet nobody seems to think that the entertainment industry should relinquish its obsessive infatuation with violence.

I thought the outrage in 2013 over President Obama calling then-California-Attorney-General Harris the best-looking Attorney General wasn't necessary.  If that were the worst thing that a President ever called me, I would have had a happier life. It's also probably true, although who knows who all of the Attorney Generals are?  Every average American is more capable of reeling off a list of celebrity names, past or present, than the names of people who make decisions for them every day.  That is our culture, unfortunately.  Also unfortunately, I have to ask if an "ugly" black woman could have been elected Senator in California, where beauty is not only an industry but treated as the dividing line between right and wrong, more important than anything else.

I'm not calling Senator Harris stupid.  I'm saying that it's probable that her career has been a career of a thousand compromises; too many.
