There are no easy choices for solving the problem of illegal immigration; not one.
I would rather be in an American jail, visited by the ACLU and whoever else is going to want to talk to me, than to be out there by myself, with kids, where I don't speak the language, can't earn money legally and am vulnerable to every predator.
I don't like it when I have to spend a night without a roof, even though I speak English and have no dependents. I've done it. You move from one place to another, trying not to look as if you have nowhere to be. I have spent hours at a time in an ATM. I have tried not to fall asleep while sitting on the sidewalk across the street from a police station, hoping that was safer in the middle of the night than other places.
