A few emails that the conglomerate decided not to consider

I have taken out names for privacy.

Subject:  Voyeurism
Date:  November 18, 2016
Time:  7:19 p.m.

From:  Me
To:  Assistant administrator to the property management of my last apartment, from which I was evicted in 2017 for my "false accusations" of voyeurism.  She has since been promoted.

My last landlord victimized me with voyeurism for a year.

I am concerned that someone put hidden cameras in this apartment when they knew that I'd be moving here, and that I have lived with those cameras recording everything that I have said and done in this apartment since I got it.

As you know, that's a serious crime for which the person who did it could be arrested and (name of apartment building) could be sued.

I am concerned enough that this has happened to me again that I have begun to consider my options about what to do about it.

I know that I'm an unusual tenant in some ways, and I am sorry about all of the unwanted attention that I bring with me.  However, that is not a reason for my rights to be violated and for me to be victimized.

If there are cameras hidden in this apartment, I'd like them to be removed.  If (apartment building) is willing to do that, then I won't have to go to the police.

I never went to the police about my last landlord because I didn't know what to do.  That doesn't mean that I won't do it this time.

Subject:  I'm not crazy.
Date:  November 18, 2016
Time:  8:56 p.m.
From:  Me
To:  Administrative assistant for property management
To:  Assistant City Manager for Cambridge Community Development

I know the cameras are in this apartment, so don't try to tell me that they're not.

I have also spoken to my psychiatrist about the issue for months; she knows I'm not crazy, so don't try to say that I am.

(My housing advocate) has left HomeStart, and I have another advocate there.  Before (housing advocate) left, she and I talked frequently about how to approach the issue of the voyeurism.  She offered to go to the Cambridge Police Department with me to talk to them about it, but I wasn't ready to make a decision about what to do.

I have also been in contact with several people at On The Rise about the issue since I moved to this apartment.

Since the cameras were hidden in the apartment by someone who works for Chroma, I think the least complicated way to approach this problem is for whoever that person is to tell (director of maintenance for the apartment building) where all the cameras are so that they can remove them.

I like this apartment.  I like the building.  I like the location.  I understand that sometimes people get confused about right and wrong, but that gives nobody a reason to abuse me, and voyeurism is a crime.

I'll renew my lease, but I want the cameras out, and if I ever find video illegally filmed of me in this apartment on the Internet, I will sue (apartment building).

Thank you for your prompt and considerate attention to this issue.

(Today, December 6, 2018:  Apparently, the psychiatrist that I had at Boston Medical Center either didn't actually believe me or didn't believe me enough to want to speak up for me to anyone.  I guess she had humored me.  I stopped working with her several months ago.)

Subject:  Attorney General
Date:  November 18, 2016
Time:  10:09 p.m.
To:  Administrative assistant for property management
To:  Assistant City Manager for Cambridge Community Development

If (property management) tries to avoid taking responsibility for getting the cameras out by refusing to renew my lease, I'll contact the Attorney General's office.

(Today, December 6, 2018:  I didn't contact the Attorney General's office.  I think that's one of the only agencies which I didn't try to contact; there are only so many times that you can ask for help and not be helped, not be believed, and be treated as if you're the one who's doing something wrong before you stop asking for help.)

Subject:  Washing machine/voyeurism
Date:  November 18, 2016
Time:  7:28 p.m.
From:  Me
To:   Administrative assistant for property management

Why don't you ask (director of maintenance) to fix my washing machine on Wednesday between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., and also to search my apartment and take out the cameras while he's at the apartment?

That way, I don't have to go to the police.

I have been talking to people for months about what to do about this, and I have finally decided that asking (apartment building) to take out the cameras is going to be my first approach.  Nobody should have to live like this.

Thank you.

I'm happy to have (director of maintenance) go over to your apartment on Wednesday to fix your washing machine, unfortunately our office is closing at 1pm for the holiday; does (director of maintenance) have permission to enter before 1pm or is there a time on Monday or Tuesday that works for you?

Thank you,

Thank you.  Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. will work.

Please ensure that he gets the cameras out, also.

I really do like the apartment, and the building, and I have tried to maintain friendly interactions with you and the rest of the property management since I have lived here, because I know that my situation is unusual and not something that people would necessarily know how to deal with.  I hope that we'll be able to maintain our friendly interactions during the process of the respect of my rights as a person and a tenant being restored.

(Today, December 6, 2018:  I also forwarded the "washing machine/voyeurism" conversation to the Assistant City Manager for Cambridge Community Development on November 19, 2016 @ 10:17 a.m.  He never responded to anything.

These are only a few of the emails that document my futile attempts to have my rights respected and to save my tenancy at my last apartment.)
