I had never heard of Mr. Abrams before the last few days. I do not have a lot of time for watching television, nor do I have my own television, and the issues that I am already dealing with demand as much thought as possible.
I do not know what kind of person Mr. Abrams is or what he has or hasn't done. However, it seems obvious to me that there has to be an intervention in Venezuela; I have been reading about that situation every so often since 2016. Everyone who is interpreting the Trump administration's attempts to help the intensely suffering Venezuelan population as a malevolent power grab is being simplistic and reactive. It's really sad. This is not the first instance in which President Trump has generously tried to do the right thing to help others, even though he has promised his constituency to stay out of foreign problems as much as possible and to spend most of his Presidency working on domestic issues; every time that he does that, he is mindlessly attacked.
He offered to help the DACA people; he Tweeted about that several times in 2017. He meant it; nobody took it seriously, which is a shame. When he offers to meet people halfway, they should follow through instead of dismissing or not even reading what he's saying. His most pedantic opponents do not want to consider him as being a fully dimensional person; they want a caricature.
