It was never my assumption that any elected official of the U.S. Government doesn't care at all about girls or women.

My question is, why isn't the issue of Female Genital Mutilation something that's being talked about in the United States every day?

You can care about something in theory, or you can care about it in practice.  You know what matters to people because they talk about it every day.

President Trump may be a lot of things, but I'm sure that he has never held down a little girl, cut off her clitoris and sewn up her vagina.  That's happening to human beings while I write this.  The countries which are allowing it to happen should be made accountable.

The last thing that I ever thought that I'd be doing in my life is trying to be the living proof that having unmutilated genitals isn't the same thing as being destined for unrelenting disparagement, social isolation, ostracism and other people's repugnant assumptions that I spend my time hoping that anyone and everyone will approach me sexually.  It is my attempt to do something positive with this horrible, lifetime burden that being criminally victimized by voyeurism and involuntary pornography has placed on me.  Most of the time, I don't feel that I'm having a lot of success.  There is no 24-hour time frame when I have no thought of suicide, and there hasn't been for almost a decade.
