I did think that the meeting that you, President Trump and others had with President Erdogan was a good idea.
I don't know if you have considered having a meeting with President Trump, Vice President Pence, Secretary Pompeo and other legislators to talk about the world crisis of dictatorship and what to do about it. The splintering of the Democratic Party, so heartbreaking, is not something to emulate.
The world is at a turning point that our political system, for all of its flaws, still shields us from, but the wrong side is encroaching bit by bit, every day that our material success as a country and our collective right to free speech shelter us psychologically.
I tend to mention my primary concerns, but I know that Secretary Pompeo knows far more than I do by region and order of crisis; it is his imperative to inform the President and others of them, which I know that he does but I think the continuous chaos surrounding all politics now is obscuring major issues despite everyone's best efforts. Also, if Leader McConnell is worried, then I'm worried, although I think sanctions against Turkey are appropriate.
It is painful when the Senate Majority Leader can speak no more definitely than this.
That's my amateur opinion for today.
If you decide to have that meeting, I suppose you could invite Senator Paul. Hopefully, his sanity has been restored since those weeks when he was offering such terrible advice about Syria.
