Someone has to ensure that they're not preyed on by the industry.

Then there's the question of what they'll be learning when they're at those jobs and internships.  Is their work going to train them to support and promote stereotypes and to keep quiet for a paycheck and prestige, or is the training program going to help them to recognize stereotypes, to be discerning and to develop the integrity that so much of the industry is lacking in its treatment of minorities?
