Why do some of the stupidest, cruelest, most self-centered, greediest, most immature, dishonest, hypocritical people who have ever lived have gobs of money, public admiration and substantial political influence?
The entertainment industry operates outside the government's system of checks and balances. Since it is more or less synonymous with the media, being owned by many of the same people, it escapes even the check-and-balance of public opinion.
