The Demotainment Party is a total scam.

Suzanne Collins, the author of the Hunger Games trilogy of books, knew the setting that she wrote about.  

The movies don't entirely capture the psychology of that setting, but of course they wouldn't.  

As far as I know, Caesar Flickerman didn't hack anyone's phone.
