American culture is in flux.  It always was and it probably always will be.

I am no Constitutional scholar.  I haven't read the Constitution all the way through.  However, I think that when it is called "a living document," that's an interpretation of the goal of those who wrote it.  The goal according to that interpretation was to create a framework for a country that would change in ways beyond the capacity of those writers to predict.  They wanted to provide flexible stability that was conducive to growth which didn't undermine people's rights.

These were principles.  How they are brought into practice is what people are still arguing about now.

I think that anyone can agree that the abuses to which I and many other people have been subjected for years are unreasonable.  Nobody would want to live the way that I have had to live.  Poverty shouldn't be the equivalent of degradation.  My privacy rights should be respected as much as anyone else's.
