The line has to be drawn about what is acceptable personal behavior from teachers and elected officials, and yours wasn't. It wouldn't be acceptable from someone who is heterosexual, and it's not acceptable from you. It is also not surprising from someone who was so young.
If the methods by which you were confronted were unkind and sabotaging, that doesn't dismiss that your behavior was inappropriate, even if it wasn't criminal.
I'm very sorry that this situation is receiving so much attention now. It's painful for you and for everyone with whom you had relationships; I'm sure that there are people fearful of national exposure and online harassment. There are so many idiots out there.
You don't have my vote, but you do have my hope that there won't be attempts to humiliate you or anyone else.
